About Parliament 

The Parliament of Rwanda is bicameral. 
It consists of two chambers:

-   The Senate 
- The Chamber of Deputies 

After the transitional period (1994-2003) ,the first legislature of the Chamber of Deputies commenced  in 2003 to 2008 ,the Second legislature commenced  in 2008 to 2013 . 

The first legislature of the Senate commenced  in 2003 and ended  in 2011.

The second  legislature of the Senate commenced in 2011  and will end  in 2019.

Senate President receives members of the Executive Committee of the Rwandan Diaspora

This Tuesday, in the Senate Buildings located at Kimihurura, the Senate President Dr. NTAWUKULIRYAYO Jean Damascène, held discussions with members of the Executive Committee of the Rwandan Diaspora, led by its Deputy Chairperson, Me Sylvestre MATATA.

End of three days retreat of Senate Staffs

On the recently concluded retreat, the Senate Staffs agreed to build a Senate with one vision. This was in their three days retreat that held in Musanze District, which ended on Sunday, 8th January 2012.

On Thursday, December 29th, 2011 the plenary session of the Senate in its extraordinary session adopted the appropriateness of two bills : -Bill relating to the competition and consumer protection -Bill relating to the organization, function and jurisdiction of the Supreme Court

Senate gives opinions on budget amendment

This Thursday , December 29th, 2011 , the Senate plenary session examined the report on the bill modifying and complementing the law no 24/2011 of 29/06/2011 determining the State Finance for the 2011/2012 fiscal year.
